Mom is home
Mom shed her earthly tent this evening, exchanging it for glory. We are so blessed to have hope in her passing and joy in the midst of sorrow. God blessed Mom with a tremendous group of friends and family who have walked this road with her, and I pray that all of you can rejoice with us, even through our tears, that she is with Jesus.
Just talked to the Nurse
We just talked to the nurse. Mom is at peace and is comfortable. The Nurse thinks that mom has been over stimulated the last day or so. We have turned the lights down in her room and are keeping the room as still and quiet as possible so that Mom has the space to let go. We don't mind visitors but on the Nurse's suggestion we ask that you not speak directly to her and please do not touch her. Being present for a few moments is fine, but please have conversations out in the hall from this point forward.

Nor Nor's Final Days
Mom is at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice home. This was planned on Monday as the best way to give Mom good care while the family took care of some stuff during the week. By Tuesday it was evident that her condition was changing. At this point, it seems unlikely that she will go home. Hospice is an awesome organization full of amazing people. Mom is much more comfortable here than she could be at home. Her body has started the process of letting go. We don't know how long that will take but there is a good chance it wI'll not be too much longer.
If you want to visit she is in room 39. Please keep visits short.

A change in status
It seems like everyday is different. Mom has had really good days, and days where she sleeps a lot. The nurse today said that her condition is changing. Mom is sleeping much more, and needs more pain medication to be comfortable. These are all signs that her soul will soon shed its earthly tent (2 Corinthians 5).
At some point this week, mom will be going to the hospice home in Winston-Salem. This is not intended to be a permanent move, although it may be. We welcome anyone who would like to come visit her during this time. It will be much easier on Mom and us if you come visit at the hospice home instead of her home. We will let you know via Facebook and the blog when she gets there.
Please understand that while we would love for you to come visit, there is a really good chance that Mom won't know you are there. She has times where she is alert and times when she is not and those times are unpredictable.
We continue to be carried by your prayers and the grace of our unfathomably loving Father in Heaven.

Update on Mom
Mom is doing well. The medicines are helping make her comfortable. She still does not have a great deal of energy.
We know many of you would like to visit. Mom thinks she will have the energy for some visits next week. If you would like to visit please call first. Visits need to be made after lunch time and should not last any longer than 15 minutes.
We continue to be grateful for your prayers and concern. Mom is exceedingly blessed to have so many who care for her and our family.

Mom's Journey
Mom has made the decision not to seek further treatment for her cancer. Hospice is now providing in home care to manage pain and help make her final days as pleasant as possible. We know that many of you will want to call and come visit. For right now, we ask that you not do either. Mom has endured multiple long visits from Hospice over the last couple of days and she needs a break. After Christmas we should have a better handle on her daily schedule and how much sshe can handle. The best place to get information will be this blog.
Thank you so much for your prayers, your concern, and the lifetime of friendships with Mom.
